LTGLAB is a LAB where we experiment to realize the Long-Term Goal of creating a better world. Believing that technology can contribute to a better world, we want to create responsible technological innovation – innovation that doesn’t exclude humans, but puts them at the center. It empowers individuals and supports communities as a solidarity of individuals. Ultimately, we seek a more balanced world in terms of environment, power, wealth, etc.
PROJECTS
Community Stock
Community stocks are company shares that are given away to community members who contribute the company’s business. For example, Uber is able to give away Uber stock to Uber drivers, or Airbnb is able to give away Airbnb stock to superhosts with community stocks. In general, giving away company stock to people outside of the company is not easy to do for taxation/accounting reasons. We create a legal entity that can grant the community company shares, and organize the governance of this entity so that it can operate autonomously. We utilize blockchain and DAO technologies for this purpose. In the future, we want to create a society where the benefits of the business can be distributed to stakeholders who contribute to the business.
Community-Driven Learning
Community-driven learning is where learning is driven by the community, with members taking the lead in learning. People interested in a common topic organize a community and establish governance to make decisions about how they learn and operate. Diversity and voluntary participation are key to community. Unlike a college class with a homogeneous group of students, it gives people from different backgrounds the opportunity to learn from each other. It also provides an environment where community members can take ownership of their learning by determining their own governance. Currently, we are applying this approach to a KAIST Web3 programming class and is looking to expand to other universities.
